FAVOR YOUTH MOVE

Parent and Youth Peer Support Provider

Hello from FAVOR YOUTH

FAVOR YOUTH MOVE members, age 18-26, are Certified Youth Peer Specialists (CPS-Y) for Georgia.

FAVOR YOUTH MOVE operates in compliance with the Youth M.O.V.E National’s and the state of Georgia’s policies and procedures.

Who We Are

FAVOR YOUTH MOVE is a Georgia Youth Move Chapter dedicated to giving peer-to-peer support and advocating on their behalf. We also support our peers in giving them resources to meet their basic needs to be stable in their communities.

What We Do

FAVOR YOUTH MOVE members work as a diverse collective to unite the voices and causes of youth while raising awareness around youth issues. They advocate for youth rights and voice in mental health systems that serve them, to empower youth to be equal partners in the process of change.

Why We Do It

Our members' mission is to ensure that every young person that enters a youth serving system is being prepared for life through genuine opportunities and authentic youth involvement throughout all systems levels. We help guide the redevelopment of the systems so that no youth falls through the cracks. We advocate for youth to utilize their live experience and expertise to foster change in their communities and in their own lives.

One of FAVOR YOUTH MOVE's main goals is to bring mental health awareness to the community. The vision is that all people will recognize and accept the culture of youth, their families, and the communities that serve them in order to be truly culturally-competent. Just as National and State, we look forward to the day when youth are no longer treated as numbers, problems or caseloads, but as individuals and humans. We will all stand as partners: youth, young adults advocates, supporters, parents, and professionals to see our youth become successful.

What We Do to Meet Our Goals:

  • Assist in developing the Youth Leadership program at meetings
  • Create youth movement principles and policies
  • Develop training tools, guides and other documents
  • Unite the voices and causes of youth
  • Act as consultants to youth, provider’s families and other adults
  • Provide youth leadership representing youth served by mental health
  • Coach others in the area of authentic youth involvement

We believe difficult situations can be changed by promoting awareness and having youth share their stories with other youth, which will provide a chance for positive change and improvement of quality of life.
